As for Clint Eastwood’s Comments at the Republican National Convention Last Night….WE LOVED IT! – Yes, “Dirty Harry” Spoke the TRUTH When He Said That Politicians Are “OUR EMPLOYEES!” – Hey, Mitt Romney….Clint Eastwood Was Talking To You As Well Buddy and Don’t Forget His Words After You Win the Presidency! – Some Great Clips About Clint Eastwood and Some Trailers From His Great Movies! – Bravo Clint Eastwood….See You On the Monterey Peninsula In February With Hopefully Mitt Romney In the White House!

As for those comments by the Great Clint Eastwood at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night…

No one here at Mad As Hell And… is going to claim that we know Clint Eastwood, but we and our families have been vacationing on the Monterey Peninsula for decades now including what is for many of us an annual trip to the AT&T PGA Tour golf tournament in early February and over the years we have had many occasions to run into, talk with and share drinks with Clint Eastwood and we cannot say enough good things about “Dirty Harry!”

As for Clint’s speech last night at the Republican National Convention….

WE LOVED IT!

AND

The best part of Clint’s speech was the following (FoxNews.com transcript):

“I would just like to say something, ladies and gentlemen.
Something that I think is very important. It is that, you, we we own this country.

(APPLAUSE)

We — we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it. Politicians are employees of ours.”

Double Amen to that Clint Eastwood!

Yes, President Obama and ALL other “Elected Leaders” are the…

American People’s Employees

AND

YOU, Elected Leaders, WORK FOR US!

The really sad part about the above TRUE statement about politicians being “our employees” is that if one goes back 50 years or so from the John F. Kennedy Presidency forward ONLY one President of the United States of America during that time actually knew that he…

Worked for the America People

Instead of…

The American People working for the President

And that President that fully understood he was a servant of the People was of course…

Ronald Reagan

As for the four Presidents since Ronald Reagan…

George H. W. Bush

Bill Clinton

George W. Bush

Barack Obama

…in our opinion ALL of them believe they are God’s Gift to Planet Earth and if you combine that with their Ivy League educations you end up with Pompous Arrogant Asses that really do believe the American People exist to serve kiss their Precious Asses and that they are better than ALL other human beings on Planet Earth.

Bravo to Clint Eastwood for speaking TRUTH to power and in case Mitt Romney doesn’t know it…

Clint Eastwood was sending a message to your Precious Ivy League Educated Candy Ass as well!

Now how about some history on Clint Eastwood and some trailers from some of Clint Eastwood’s greatest movies?

YES, the American People say!

After Spending Several Days In Tampa, Florida With the Republicans We Believe That Although the Choice Between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney Isn’t Much of A Choice….The Choice For President Is Clear: Mitt Romney Is OUR Choice – College Football Season and the Great Johnny Cash

After several days in Tampa, Florida listening to, talking to, watching closely and even arguing with Republicans and Conservatives at the RNC Convention we don’t have to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina next week for the Democratic Convention to completely understand what the American People are now facing in the November Presidential Election.

On one hand we have the Republican Party offering-up their Presidential candidate in Mitt Romney who is solidly from the camp of recent GOP “leaders” in that….

He is willing to sell the American People, American Families and American Children out to the Wall Street Bastards and large American Corporations

AND

He is surrounded by some foreign policy advisors that deeply love and have a passion for sending the children of other Americans into battle but their Precious Asses and their children/grandchildren will NEVER serve in the US Military (because they are all Candy Ass Pussies that don’t have the courage to serve in the US Military) whether those battles are actually necessary or involve the national interests of the American Republic or not.

(Although if Romney is listening to Jim Baker as reported in Foreign Policy magazine recently, “Jim Baker: Realists have been successful stewards of foreign policy, Josh Rogin, FP” then Romney may be coming to his senses and planning to move US Foreign Policy back to the Reagan – Bush I – Baker days that was dominated by American Common Sense and not the Complete Idiocy of the Bush II administration)

The above is what the Republican Party is offering which we are presuming would mean with a Romney Presidency an end to the current US Government waging and All-Out and Direct Attack on American Businesses of all sizes as is going on now in the Obama Administration which would be GREAT for the American People and go a long ways in getting the US Economy moving again.

On the other side of the Presidential ticket the Democrats are offering President Obama who from our perspective…..

Is determined to get as many Americans as possible on the Government Dole so they can sit around on their Lazy Asses and do NOTHING at all if they like with FREE and UNLIMITED HEALTH CARE as well if you happen to get sick sitting around on your Lazy Ass eating Twinkies and watching re-runs of I Love Lucy and Gilligan’s Island all day long!

AND

A sell-out of the American Republic and American People to FASCISTS and MURDERS around the world in Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Syria and Iran in the name of some bogus Wacko Liberal Nut college campus inspired “peace” which is actually nothing more than the American Republic and US Military getting out of the way of the FASCISTS and MURDERS so they can carry on their campaign of mayhem, violence and murder all over the world with American sitting on the sidelines cheering them on since in the Obama Administration the people that are celebrated the most are FASCISTS, Socialists and Communists that have complete control over their people and have very Damn little Freedom, Liberty and Self-Determination or in other words opposite of what the American Republic was founded upon and existed under during the life of our nation

AND

A main goal of finding a way for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons and if Iran found a way to deliver a nuclear weapons to a terrorist that then lit-off that nuclear weapon in Israel which killed millions of Israelis, Jews, Palestinians, tourists and especially children there would be a week-long party at the White House and in Tehran that Israel was “wiped-off the face of the Earth” with President Obama leading the cheers and calling Tehran to congratulate the mullahs on finally destroying Israel.

AND

A continued All-Out and Direct Attack on American Business and those EVIL Americans that make EVIL “profits” by investing capital and “using labor” to generate their EVIL “profits” which of course in the minds of the Wacko Liberal Nuts belongs to the Government for the Government to redistribute to the Lazy Asses that are sitting on their couches eating Twinkies watching re-runs of I Love Lucy and Gillian’s Island and who have every Damn right to sit on their Lazy Asses and do nothing if they choose as so believed by Barack Obama and his advisors.

By the way, ALL of the above is OUR opinion on the positions of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama and we have state the above opinions as American Citizens.  PERIOD.

Sorry, from where we it the above choices of Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are really not much of a choice at all….BUT….as Americans we are obligated to turn out and vote and choose the candidate that we feel could best lead America going forward and even though we firmly believe that Mitt Romney would sell out…

American Families, American Children and the American People

….out to Wall Street and large American Corporations that is in our opinion the better choice over Barack Obama who in our opinion will sell out…

American Families, American Children and the American People

….to the MURDERS and FASCISTS around the world in the name of some bogus “peace” while at the same time ramping up the All-Out and Direct Attack on American Business which will bring the US Economy to a standstill, explode the Deficits and Debt of the US Government even higher as more Americans choose to lie around on their Lazy Asses and not work and entrepreneurs and job creators just give the Hell up which would all make the American Republic and American People worse off……NOT BETTER.

We therefore after being less than 4 years removed from being somewhat optimistic about Barack Obama’s chances to transform and bring real change to America find that we could NEVER vote for a President who is willing and able to sell-out the American People to MURDERS and FASCISTS around the world even though his opponent is willing and able to sell out the American People to a few thousand Socialists and Communists on the southern tip of Manhattan that work in and around Wall Street that could not handle REAL Capitalism on the very best day of their Candy Ass Pussy lives.

Therefore we will continue to work for and support Mitt Romney in the 2012 Presidential Race and mainly Republicans, but YES even a few moderate and sane Democrats in the Fall election.

Many of us here at Mad As Hell And… are in Atlanta, Georgia today for the Tennessee – NC State college football game tonight at the Georgia Dome which is much more Damn important than what Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are saying on the campaign trail and over the coming weeks as we follow the great game of college football we will be increasing our efforts (just as we did in the summer/fall of 2010) in the 15-plus key battleground states that will decide the 2012 Presidential, US House and US Senate elections and as REAL Americans we look forward to the coming competition in college football and in the election and also like REAL Americans we plan on WINNING!

Good Luck to both the Democrats and the Republicans and may the best men and women WIN!

As we here at Mad As Hell And… travel through America in Fall each year for college football we often having the music of the Great Johnny Cash on the TVs in our RVs and buses and below is a terrific documentary on Johnny Cash which includes the following Very Damn True statement from his daughter in the opening of the program:

“Johnny Cash is a two-word answer for why it is still good to be an American.”

Amen to that!

Enjoy!

Mad As Hell And… Quotes of the Day – Friday, August 31, 2012 – Bill Walsh

Mad As Hell And… Quotes of the Day – Friday, August 31, 2012 – Bill Walsh

Bill Walsh’s Five Don’ts

“1. Don’t ask, “Why me?”

2. Don’t expect sympathy.

3. Don’t bellyache.

4. Don’t keep accepting condolences.

5. Don’t blame others.”

Four Leadership Tips From Bill Walsh from…

The Score Takes Care of Itself, My Philosophy of Leadership

1. Making The Best Of What You Have

“What assets do we have right now that we’re not taking advantage of?”

E.g: Walsh took inventory of his Bengals’ struggling offense which was undersized (meaning running the ball was a big challenge) and not capable of passing for long yardage (quarterback Virgil Carter could not throw very far) (though he could throw decently for short yardage).

Walsh then took stock of what he had to work with in terms of field real estate and had an uh-huh realization that they had 53.5 yards of width on the field (about half the distance of the length of the field) and the availability of 5 potential receivers.

Thus the West Coast Offense was born: the idea of throwing more often, to more receivers, for short yardage.

2. Good Leaders Give a Healthy Mix of Positive Criticism (not just negative/constructive criticism).

“If you’re growing a garden, you need to pull out the weeds, but flowers will die if all you do is pick weeds. They need sunshine and water. People are the same.

They need criticism, but they also require positive substantive language and information and true support to truly blossom.”

3. Good Leaders Look For These Five Qualities In Their Hires

1. A fundamental knowledge of the area they’ve been hired to manage
2. A relatively high — but not manic — level of energy and enthusiasm and a personality that is upbeat, motivated and animated.
3. The ability to discern talent in potential employees.
4. An ability to communicate in a relaxed yet authoritative — but not authoritarian — manner.
5. Unconditional loyalty to both you and other staff members.

4. The Four Most Powerful Words In Leadership

“I believe in you” (or equivalent words of your own).

Walsh writes that even Joe Montana (who already had a bunch of confidence) benefited from his coach telling him he believed in him.

Providing confidence to your team is perhaps the most powerful lever you can pull to help them optimize their performance.

And Walsh adds: And nobody will ever come back to you later and say “thank you” for expecting too little of them.

And

“Nothing is more effective than sincere, accurate praise, and nothing is more lame than a cookie-cutter compliment.”

And

“If you are worthy of emulation, you have left an unbelievable legacy. He was a great coach, a great friend, and I’m going to miss him terribly.” Former coach Dick Vermeil at Coach Bill Walsh Memorial Service

And

“I came to the San Francisco 49ers with a specific goal – to implement what I call the Standard of Performance. It was a way of doing things, a leadership philosophy, that has as much to do with core values, principles, and ideals as with blocking, tackling, and passing; more to do with the mental than with the physical.”

And

“The culture precedes positive results. It doesn’t get tacked on as an afterthought on your way to the victory stand. Champions behave like champions before they’re champions: they have a winning standard of performance before they are winners.”

And

“For me, the road had been rocky at times, triumphant too, but along the way I had never wavered in my dedication to installing – teaching – those actions and attitudes I believed would create a great team, a superior organization. I knew that if I achieved that, the score would take care of itself.”

And

“For me the starting point for everything – before strategy, tactics, theories, managing, organizing, philosophy, methodology, talent, or experience – is work ethic. Without one of significant magnitude you’re dead in the water, finished. I knew the example I set as head coach would be what others in the organization would recognize as the standard they needed to match (at least, most of them would recognize it). If there is such a thing as a trickle-down effect, that’s it. Your staff sees your devotion to work, their people see them, and on through the organization.”

And

“In building and maintaining your organization, place a premium on those who exhibit great desire to keep pushing themselves to higher and higher performance and production levels, who seek to go beyond the highest standards that you, the leader, set. The employee who gets to work early, stays late, fights through illness and personal problems is the one to keep your eye on for greater responsibilities.”

And

“All successful leaders know where we want to go, figure out a way we believe will get the organization there, and then move forward with absolute determination. We may falter from time to time, but ultimately we are unswerving in moving toward our goal; we will not quit. There is an inner compulsion – obsession – to get it done the way you want it done.”

And

“Victory is produced by and belongs to all. Winning a Super Bowl results from you whole team not only doing their individual jobs but perceiving that those jobs contributed to overall success. The trophy doesn’t belong just to a superstar quarterback or CEO, head coach or top salesperson. This is an essential lesson I taught the San Francisco organization: The offensive team is not a country unto itself, nor is the defensive team or the special teams, staff, coaches, or anyone in the organization separate from the fate of the organization. WE are united and fight as one; we win or lose as one.”

Mad As Hell And… Quotes of the Day – Thursday, August 30, 2012 – Paul “Bear” Bryant

Mad As Hell And… Quotes of the Day – Thursday, August 30, 2012 – Paul “Bear” Bryant

“Mama wanted me to be a preacher. I told her coachin’ and preachin’ were a lot alike.”

And

“But it’s still a coach’s game. Make no mistake. You start at the top. If you don’t have a good one at the top, you don’t have a cut dog’s chance. If you do, the rest falls into place. You have to have good assistants, and a lot of things, but first you have to have the chairman of the board.”

And

“If anything goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That’s all it takes to get people to win football games for you.”

And

“I think the most important thing of all for any team is a winning attitude. The coaches must have it. The players must have it. The student body must have it. If you have dedicated players who believe in themselves, you don’t need a lot of talent.”

And

“The idea of molding men means a lot to me.”

And

“You must learn how to hold a team together. You must lift some men up, calm others down, until finally they’ve got one heartbeat. Then you’ve got yourself a team.”

And

“If wanting to win is a fault, as some of my critics seem to insist, then I plead guilty. I like to win. I know no other way. It’s in my blood.”

And

“Get the winners into the game.”

And

“The old lessons (work, self-discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, fighting to achieve) aren’t being taught by many people other than football coaches these days. The football coach has a captive audience and can teach these lessons because the communication lines between himself and his players are more wide open than between kids and parents. We better teach these lessons or else the country’s future population will be made up of a majority of crooks, drug addicts, or people on relief.”

And

“Sacrifice. Work. Self-discipline. I teach these things, and my boys don’t forget them when they leave.”

And

“It’s not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”

And

“I’ll never give up on a player regardless of his ability as long as he never gives up on himself. In time he will develop.”

And

“Set goals – high goals for you and your organization. When your organization has a goal to shoot for, you create teamwork, people working for a common good.”

And

“Don’t talk too much. Don’t pop off. Don’t talk after the game until you cool off.”

And

“You have to learn what makes this or that Sammy run. For one it’s a pat on the back, for another it’s eating him out, for still another it’s a fatherly talk, or something else. You’re a fool if you think as I did as a young coach, that you can treat them all alike.”

And

“If a man is a quitter, I’d rather find out in practice than in a game. I ask for all a player has so I’ll know later what I can expect.”

And

“Find your own picture, your own self in anything that goes bad. It’s awfully easy to mouth off at your staff or chew out players, but if it’s bad, and you’re the head coach, you’re responsible. If we have an intercepted pass, I threw it. I’m the head coach. If we get a punt blocked, I caused it. A bad practice, a bad game, it’s up to the head coach to assume his responsibility.”

And

“It’s awfully important to win with humility. It’s also important to lose. I hate to lose worse than anyone, but if you never lose you won’t know how to act. If you lose with humility, then you can come back.”

And

“Losing doesn’t make me want to quit. It makes me want to fight that much harder.”

And

“The biggest mistake coaches make is taking borderline cases and trying to save them. I’m not talking about grades now, I’m talking about character. I want to know before a boy enrolls about his home life, and what his parents want him to be.”

And

“What are you doing here? Tell me why you are here. If you are not here to win a national championship, you’re in the wrong place. You boys are special. I don’t want my players to be like other students. I want special people. You can learn a lot on the football field that isn’t taught in the home, the church, or the classroom. There are going to be days when you think you’ve got no more to give and then you’re going to give plenty more. You are going to have pride and class. You are going to be very special. You are going to win the national championship for Alabama.”

And

“I’m no innovator. If anything I’m a stealer, or borrower. I’ve stolen or borrowed from more people than you can shake a stick at.”

And

“There is no sin in not liking to play; it’s a mistake for a boy to be there if he doesn’t want to.”

And

“I’m no miracle man. I guarantee nothing but hard work.”

And

“Don’t overwork your squad. If you’re going to make a mistake, under-work them.”

And

“Be aware of “yes” men. Generally, they are losers. Surround yourself with winners. Never forget – people win.”

And

“If there is one thing that has helped me as a coach, it’s my ability to recognize winners, or good people who can become winners by paying the price.”

And

“You take those little rascals, talk to them good, pat them on the back, let them think they are good, and they will go out and beat the biguns.”

And

“If you whoop and holler all the time, the players just get used to it.”

And

“I know what it takes to win. If I can sell them on what it takes to win, then we are not going to lose too many football games.”

And

“If you want to coach you have three rules to follow to win. One, surround yourself with people who can’t live without football. I’ve had a lot of them. Two, be able to recognize winners. They come in all forms. And, three, have a plan for everything. A plan for practice, a plan for the game. A plan for being ahead, and a plan for being behind 20-0 at half, with your quarterback hurt and the phones dead, with it raining cats and dogs and no rain gear because the equipment man left it at home.”

And

“My approach to the game has been the same at all the places I’ve been. Vanilla. The sure way. That means, first of all, to win physically. If you got eleven on a field, and they beat the other eleven physically, they’ll win. They will start forcing mistakes. They’ll win in the fourth quarter.”

And

“Little things make the difference. Everyone is well prepared in the big things, but only the winners perfect the little things.”

And

“Scout yourself. Have a buddy who coaches scout you.”

And

“The first time you quit, it’s hard. The second time, it gets easier. The third time, you don’t even have to think about it.”

And

“But there’s one thing about quitters you have to guard against – they are contagious. If one boy goes, the chances are he’ll take somebody with him, and you don’t want that. So when they would start acting that way, I used to pack them up and get them out, or embarrass them, or do something to turn them around.”

And

“There’s a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success.”

And

“People who are in it for their own good are individualists. They don’t share the same heartbeat that makes a team so great. A great unit, whether it be football or any organization, shares the same heartbeat.”

And

“I told them my system was based on the “ant plan,” that I’d gotten the idea watching a colony of ants in Africa during the war. A whole bunch of ants working toward a common goal.”

And

“We can’t have two standards, one set for the dedicated young men who want to do something ambitious and one set for those who don’t.”

And

“I honestly believe that if you are willing to out-condition the opponent, have confidence in your ability, be more aggressive than your opponent and have a genuine desire for team victory, you will become the national champions. If you have all the above, you will acquire confidence and poise, and you will have those intangibles that win the close ones.”

And

“If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride – and never quit – you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.”

And

“Don’t ever give up on ability. Don’t give up on a player who has it.”

And

“A good, quick, small team can beat a big, slow team any time.”

And

“I have always tried to teach my players to be fighters. When I say that, I don’t mean put up your dukes and get in a fistfight over something. I’m talking about facing adversity in your life. There is not a person alive who isn’t going to have some awfully bad days in their lives. I tell my players that what I mean by fighting is when your house burns down, and your wife runs off with the drummer, and you’ve lost your job and all the odds are against you. What are you going to do? Most people just lay down and quit. Well, I want my people to fight back.”

And

“If they don’t have a winning attitude, I don’t want them.”

And

“I have tried to teach them to show class, to have pride, and to display character. I think football, winning games, takes care of itself if you do that.”

And

“I always want my players to show class, knock’em down, pat on the back, and run back to the huddle.”

And

“I tell young players who want to be coaches, who think they can put up with all the headaches and heartaches, can you live without it? If you can live without it, don’t get in it.”
